Maureen FitzSimons's achievements as a young performer in America (or what we would call Maureen O'Hara today) would have definitely put her into"the "child prodigy" category. As a person who had Irish heritage, who was surrounded she was by talented parents as well as a clan that was filled with talent, these qualities were naturally a part of her. Maureen entered this hospitable sanctuary on the 17th of August 1920 at Ranelagh (a suburb within Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita FitzSimons was a gifted contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman in Dublin who also owned a part of the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer club in Ireland. Maureen FitzSimons first FitzSimons children. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara made up this family. Maureen was a fan of rough and athletic games as a child and excelled in sports. She combined this interest with an equally natural talent for performing. It was evident that she was the winner of every Feis in drama and theatre that Ireland had to offer. At age 14, she had been accepted into the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue operatic singing as well as classical theater.
